Frequently Asked Questions:
Where does the name Manic Trout come from?
Well, once upon a time I was married to a fly fisherman. Eventually there were images of trout on most of what we owned. The expression, "A fly fisherman lives here with the catch of his life" was also on many things. Combine all of that with my having an abnormally high amount of energy and there you have it...I am the Manic Trout! A few years down the line and the marriage has dissolved, but the name Manic Trout will live on forever!
What inspires all of the crazy colorful creations here at Manic Trout?
Fashion, photography, color, vintage bits and baubles and natural elements are all greatly inspirational to my work. My studio has 4 inspiration boards of images, the walls in my home (where my studio is) are covered with art and I can see all of my materials when I work (in a neurotically organized way of coarse). I surround myself with inspiration and see it everywhere I go...as cheesy as that sounds.
How on earth do you come up with all of the names?
Well, some I have just pulled out of plain necessity...such as the Mr. Crabby, Ms. Trout and Zsa Zsa Bling Rings...but for the most part, all jewelry is named after songs in my itunes. I then use lists of names online for each piece....the Sweetest Thing Earrings all have Gypsy and Roman names, the Salt Water Sound Necklaces have Japanese names, the Bling Rings are named for women with the best jewelry collections, the Give it to me earrings are named for Bond Girls and my favorite...the button rings are named for super vilenesses! All of the paintings are named for whatever book I was reading when I painted it.
